The narrowbody will have more efficiency as well as a new engine. The company mentioned that it had received orders for five airlines, for four hundred and ninety six of the new Boeings from five airlines.

The name of the new model will be 737 Max, and will be in competition with the newly redeveloped A320neo family of planes from Airbus, a European company. The Airbus model is similar and has fuel saving engines. The Airbus fleet will be delivered in 2015.

The Boeing jet will be fitted with engines from CFM international, which is jointly ventured into by Safran from France, and General Electric. The renewed engine plan was approved by the board, as said by Boeing on Tues.

Boeing Company is based in Chicago. The company spokesperson Jim AlBaugh, Chief Executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, has said that the 737 Max will help the company not only maintain the current market share, but also grow more.

Boeing 737 Max will have a fuel burn lower by sixteen per cent that the current Airbus models. It will also be lower by 4 per cent when compared to the Airbus A320 neo, and will have operating costs that are lower overall.

Chairman of the board of Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, Philip Taldo said that even though they receive a number of complaints on the expensive flights offered, the airport could not help it as there are just so many destinations for accommodating the business traffic. Taldo said that it is hoped that a low cost carrier will be attracted to the airport over the next ten years.
