From Charlotte Douglas International Airport to its attractions



I love to explore various sightseeing attractions at different countries or cities. So I went to North Carolina’s Charlotte city to see exactly what is there special that will influence me to stay for a week. And when we went to some other country no doubt, we travel mostly by air. So here I am giving you essential information about the airport that will guide you further. As I experienced the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, it will make you feel very much comfortable. So first I went inside the city through this airport which is a joint civil-military public international airport. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) was established in the year 1935 as Charlotte Municipal Airport and in the year 1954 this airport was renamed as Douglas Municipal Airport. It was named after the former mayor of Charlotte, Ben Elbert Douglas, Sr.

The airport finally gained its present name in the year 1982 and today, it is the major hub of US Airways. It provide services to 135domestic and international destinations and became the 8th busiest airport in the United States and 24th busiest in the world. The airport has four runways out of which the third one is under construction and is about to complete by 2010 and the construction of fourth runway was started in the year 2007.

The airport has only one terminal but its concourses are five as Concourse A, B, C, D and E.

Car Parking:

The airport has hourly, daily and long term car parking spaces available in some car parks. So you can park your car even at the two satellite car parks and a distant overflow car park close by. All the car parks are served by the shuttle services to the airport except the hourly car park. In fact, Valet parking is also there at the airport.

Car Hire:

You can hire a car from various car companies represented the airport. Companies like Alamo/National, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and Thrifty are there with the desks on the baggage reclaim level which is in the passenger terminal.

Transport:

Public transportation includes buses and taxis that will take you to your destination in the city.

Information and Help Desks:

If you have any kind of queries to ask then head to the Welcome Center that will provide you information about the airport. It could be found on the baggage level that also provides tourist information. An information desk is also available on the ticketing level. Information desks could be found at every baggage reclaim area.

A bank with bureau de change and ATMs are available. Wi-Fi Internet access is also provided to the passengers in the terminals.

Eating and Drinking:
The airport has many restaurants, cafes and bars where you can hang out and have something.

Shopping:
Try shopping at various shops and also duty-free shops.

Luggage:
Lost and found services are available if you contact on (704) 359 4012. Besides this, trolleys are also there with a small fee.

Other Facilities:
Other facilities comprise of 24 hour interfaith chapel, first aid assistance and also family toilets.

Conference and business Facilities:
To get these facilities the airport has Business Centre that offers many conference rooms ranging from small offices to an auditorium that has 80 seats available. Meetings and event facilities could be found close to the Holiday Inn.

Facilities for Disabled Travellers:
This includes toilets, telephones, wheelchairs, TTY-text telephones, special assistance, assistance carts and car parking spaces. The airport is fully accessible for the wheelchair users.

Bank of America StadiumAs Charlotte lies in the border of North and South Carolina, this place offers many wonderful attractions to the visitors. Charlotte Coliseum, Carolinas Aviation Museum, Sutco Properties LLC, Pawtuckett Golf Course Inc, Bank of America Stadium, Wing Haven Foundation Inc, Spirit Square or Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and many other mind blowing attractions could be found in Charlotte. So if you get time just enjoy and explore few of them. When I went to this place I was made up my mind that first job will be of sightseeing and truly, exploring some has proved a fun for me.
