Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport which is also known as Guadalajara International Airport was opened in the year 1966 and lies at a distance of 16 kilometres from the city centre. This airport serves more than 7,193,200 passengers every year by making it the third busiest airport in Mexico. Guadalajara International Airport

This airport has undergone renovation and expansion so that it could increase its operating capacity. Also facilities have been increased in Terminal 1. The airport has its official website as Guadalajara.aeropuertosgap.com.mx. To reach to the airport from Guadalajara you need to drive through Hwy-23 in the direction of Chapala. The highway will directly take you to the airport and is also signposted. From Chapala the airport is located at a distance of 15 kilometres. After reaching to the airport you can park your car at the airport which could be found outside the terminal building. Hire a car from various companies represented the airport.

Bus and taxi are always available as the best mode of transportation throughout the city and will take you to your destination. For information a telephone information service is available at the airport. Head towards the help desk of your airline if you want any airport information. A tourist information desk could also be found at the airport that provides hotel booking service as well. Some of the facilities that this airport provides are three banks, ATMs, bureau de change, Fax and internet, restaurants, bars and a variety of shops including duty-free shops. Other facilities and luggage facilities are not available at the airport. So do not lose your luggage at all.

For conference and business facilities you have only Hotel Casa Grande. Besides this, small lounges with meeting rooms are available at the airport. Other facilities for conferencing and business are available here with other services offered to you. Disabled travellers will get limited facilities at the airport like toilets, electric wheelchair lift that are accessible to both the levels of the terminals. For special assistance the disabled traveller should contact their airline.

The airport has only one option as a hotel where you can accommodate a room and that is Hotel Casa Grande. This hotel is linked by the shuttle service. Other hotels could be found in the city centre at a distance of 25 minutes. You can reserve a room from the tourist information desk situated at the airport. Guadalajara has a list of attractions to explore so if you get time to visit few of them do not waste much time to be a part of the city’s attractions. Mostly you need a visa to enter the province of this country.
