Split Airport is located close to town of Trogir in Europe and was built to serve Split and Kastela in Split-Dalmatia County in Croatia. It is the second major airport in Croatia as per the number of passengers who come here every year and the amount of passengers is 1,203,778. It is a significant hub for Croatia Airlines that offers flights to a number of European cities like London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Rome and Paris. The airport code is SPU and has only one terminal. It also has an official website as www.split-airport.hr. It was opened on 25th November 1966.

Expansion plan of the airport is under process and will be completed till 2014. The expansion will take place in two distinct phases. One is from 2009 to 2011 where airport ramp will be expanded by 45,000 square metres and the other is buying Croatian Air Force and Defense land. Phase two will take place from 2012 to 2011 where a new terminal with 4 jetways will be build and its area will be of 25,000 square metres. Parallel to the runway a new taxiway will be added. And finally building one more airport ramp of 85,000 square metres will be incorporated.
From the city you can reach to the airport easily. Just follow the D1 main road or Adriatic Coastal road through A1 and follow the signs. Right opposite to the terminal building car parking spaces are available. There are total 353 spaces available for cars and 31 for buses. You can hire car from any of the car companies at the airport. For transportation you have bus and taxi services that run to and from the city centre. It will lead you wherever you want in the city.
Basic facilities are all available at the airport as it remains in all the airports in the world. For money and communications you have bank that offers currency exchange services and is situated on the passenger terminal ground floor. Also post office is available. For eating and drinking you have coffee bar and restaurant could be found. Lost and found luggage facilities are also available. With this other facilities like a bomb shelter and first aid room could be found in the terminal’s basement.
VIP room is also available on the ground floor for conference and business facilities. Toilets, support facilities and few others are there for the disabled travellers. If you need any accommodation then head to the Hotel Trogirski dvori, Hotel Concordia, Villa Liza and Hotel Kastel. For any guidance you can head to the information counter which is located in the terminal.
