Addis Ababa Bole International Airport lies in the Bole region of Addis Ababa City to the east with a distance of 18 kilometre that is 11 miles and to the north of Debre Zeyit. Addis Ababa city lies in Ethiopia. This airport was initially known as Haile Selassie I International Airport. This airport is the centre of Ethiopian Airlines which is the national airline of Ethiopia. Ethiopian Airlines has its services throughout the African continent and also provide services to Asia, Europe and North America.

This airport is among the major pilot training and aircraft maintenance centres and is the sixth busiest airport in Africa. It has only one terminal and the airport code is ADD. In the year 2003, an international passenger terminal was opened to serve the passengers which are among the largest terminal on the continent. Due to this a new runway was constructed with a length of 3,800 metre that is 12,467 feet. With the two terminals the airport has total 11 gates out of which 5 gates is of Terminal 1 and 6 gates of Terminal 2.

Airlines that are operated from this airport are BMI, Daallo Airlines, Djibouti Airlines, EgyptAir, Emirates Airline, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sudan Airways, Turkish Airlines and Yemenia.

Once you arrived at the airport you can reach to the city centre through the Bole Road from where you have to move towards the Africa Avenue. You will get a huge car parking area just outside the airport where you can park your vehicle. You can even hire car from outside the airport through the travel agencies and also through tour operators. Or else you can hire car by yourself.

To reach to the city centre you will not get any bus services from the airport. So you have to arrange a private vehicle that will take you to your destination. National Tour Operator taxis will be a better option for you. For any information you have tourist help desk that is situated in Arrivals. Facilities like post office, bank, bureau de change and telephones could be found at the airport. Besides these, you will also get few restaurants and cafes where you can have something. Even facilities are available for your shopping. You will get a number of shops at the airport with gift shops and duty free as well.

Hilton hotelRemember that if you lost your luggages then the airport will not be responsible. You have other facilities available here like VIP lounge, travel agency and first aid. Also there are no facilities for business or conference at the airport but you can reach to the United Nations Conference Centre on Menelik Avenue. You can reach here by 10 minutes driving. Business meetings can be done in many hotels of the city like the Sheraton that has nine meeting rooms and one business centre. Also the Hilton hotel is another option for your meeting. Besides this, you have Ghion Hotel, Imperial Hotel and Ararat Hotel that are close to the airport. So you can book a room close to it and explore the city’s wonder.

Attractions in Addis Ababa city are Mercato, National Museum and St George Cathedral. The Cathedral’s outer wall is designed with beautiful art work and mosaics and from inside the building is madeNational museum wonderfully. The museum covers a huge variety of Ethiopian history and the Mercato is a huge outdoor market in Africa with colorful sight.

Addis Ababa has average temperature with rainfall and snowfall that makes this place like a heaven. So whenever you want to spent your holidays here just pack you bags and rock in this place. You have many attractions to visit here. Out of them visit the Ethnological Museum first which is a former palace of Haile Selassie. The Museum will remain open from 8 am to 5 pm for Tuesday to Friday and 10 am to 6 pm for Saturday and Sunday. To get accessed to the Museum you have to pay an entry fee of 20 birr. This museum lies at the northern direction of city centre and are located at the Campus of the University close to the Entoto road.

You can also visit the other attraction which is the National Museum. Here you can see Lucy who was found in the year 1974 and is our ancestor. Around it you can take a view of the other fossils as well. This museum remains open from 8.30 to 5.30 pm on Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday the timing is 9 am to 5.30 pm. Also visit the Lion of Judah Monument and also the Campus of the University where you could see the beauty of nature with full of greenery.
