Head to the Vienna International Airport



Vienna International Airport is a door that opens key attractions of Austria that is the busiest and biggest airport of the country. This airport is also called as Schwechat which is the name given to the city where the airport actually lies. It is located at 18 kilometres towards southeast of central Vienna. It handles wide body aircrafts like Boeing 747 and Airbus A340. It is the hub of Austrian Airlines and its subsidiaries. Also it is a hub for the budget airline Niki.

The airport has two terminals and one new terminal is under construction to serve the airlines and its passengers. The third terminal will also be capable of handling big aircrafts like Airbus A380. The airport code is VIE and has an official website as www.viennaairport.com. Both the terminals could be found in a single building and could be reached soon by walking from one terminal to the other. Vienna International Airport could be reached from the A4 Airport Motorway.

Well, it is a private airport with 11811 feet of runway and has an elevation of 600 feet. Some of the car parking facilities is available at the airport. K1 and K2 are the short-term car parks and 3 and 4 car parks are the multi-storey parking garages.Discount long-term parking could be found in lot C.

You can hire car from various companies at the airport. With this, rail, bus and taxis are available to serve the passengers. The City Airport Train operates its services to the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte. The S-Bahn which is an overground train links the airport to Wien Mitte and Wien Nord railway stations. From outside the Arrivals hall, taxis run its services to the city. Buses functions to Wien Mitte, Sudbahnhof and Westbahnhof railway stations and also towards Wien Schwedenplatz and UNO City.

Disabled travellers can also contact the airlines for assistance.

For accommodation, the Astron Hotel & Convention Center Vienna Airport is a better option that could be found opposite terminals. To go out of the airport you need transit visa. Otherwise, visas are not compulsion for those who will stay back in the airport and enjoy their time. The Schonbrunn PalaceThe Belvedere Palace, The Schonbrunn Palace, St Stephens Cathedral, The Spanish Riding School, The Vienna State Opera House, The Vienna Volksoper, The Vienna Chamber Opera, The Danube City and many others are the major attractions of the city.
