Malé International Airport (MLE) (formerly acknowledged as Hulhule Airport) is the major international airport that serves Maldives. It is situated at a distance of 2.5 km from the north-eastern region of Malé, at the Hulhule Island. The airport started functioning on 12 April in the year 1966; the name of the airport was changed on 11 November 1981.
